A shootout erupted throughout a confrontation between an off-duty Chicago police officer and a number of other gunmen on the Southwest Aspect Monday morning.
The incident unfolded about 4:20 a.m. within the 3700 block of West 67th Place when “a number of armed offenders” approached the off-duty officer and an trade of gunfire ensued, a press release from Chicago police stated.
It was not clear what sparked the confrontation.
One officer suffered a minor damage from damaged glass through the taking pictures and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Middle in Oak Garden, in accordance with police and the hearth division.
The gunmen, none of whom had been apparently injured, then entered a dark-colored automobile and sped away west, the assertion stated.
