Public faculties in New York are closed Wednesday to mark the beginning of the Lunar New 12 months.
It is the primary time college students in New York can have the day without work for Lunar New 12 months since a brand new state regulation was signed in 2023. Final 12 months, the vacation fell on a Saturday.

Hochul signed laws declaring Asian Lunar New 12 months a statewide public faculty vacation in 2023, and lawmakers said on the time that it was the primary state to take action.
