The Springfield Space
Arts Council and the town of Springfield have introduced the winners of
the 2024 Mayor’s Awards for the Arts, recognizing distinctive expertise and
dedication to the humanities in Sangamon and Menard counties. This 12 months’s honorees
had been celebrated at an awards ceremony held Nov. 2 on the Inn at
835. The occasion introduced collectively neighborhood members, supporters and artists,
celebrating those that have made excellent contributions to the native arts
scene.
“Every winner exemplifies
the vibrancy, resilience and creativity that outline our neighborhood. With awards
throughout classes together with particular person artists, training and volunteerism,

Artwork Gallery – Recommended for his or her dedication to supporting native artists
and fostering an appreciation for the humanities in Menard County and past.

Volunteer: Jennifer Bettis

This 12 months, the
nomination committee unanimously agreed to honor Austin Wells with a particular recognition award for his distinctive contributions and dedication to advancing the
arts in Springfield. Earlier this 12 months, Wells painted a mural of Sonya Massey on the Clear Lake Avenue pedestrian bridge, which has now been renamed the Massey Memorial Bridge.
