A former Dunning priest has been accused of assaulting a baby almost 30 years in the past, in keeping with a letter despatched by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago.
Within the letter despatched Saturday to parishioners, Cupich mentioned Monsignor Daniel Mayall, who served as pastor at Saint Francis Borgia Parish, 8033 W. Addison St., from July 1993 to January 2002, had been accused of “sexual abuse of a minor” about 30 years in the past.
Mayall later served because the rector of Holy Title Cathedral — the place he once lived — from January 2002 to August 2016, and was among the clergy who joined Cupich for Mass on the one hundred and seventy fifth anniversary of the parish final November, in keeping with the Chicago Catholic, the archdiocese’s publication.

Mayall additionally served as pastor and senior priest of St. Joseph Parish in Wilmette between July 2016 and June 2019, in keeping with the letter. He was then senior priest of Saints Joseph and Francis Xavier Parish till June 2021, when he retired; he stayed on the parish in retirement.
