Outfielder Chandler Simpson‘s spectacular velocity has already made him the stuff of legends. Now, he’s getting an opportunity to indicate off these wheels on the main league degree.
In keeping with ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Rays are bringing Simpson to the majors. Adam Berry from MLB.com reported that supervisor Kevin Money mentioned Chandler will get “somewhat little bit of a runway” with the Rays as he acclimates to the majors.
Ranked because the Rays’ third-best prospect, and the 72nd-best prospect in baseball per FanGraphs, Chandler’s calling card is his blazing velocity. Ranked as an 80 on the 20-to-80 grading scale, Simpson is a terror on the basepaths with spectacular bat-to-ball abilities. He infamously beat out a routine grounder to first for an infield single earlier within the month with the Triple-A Durham Bulls, displaying that he is usually a weapon atop the Rays’ lineup for years to return.
