Martha Brynda emailed a cool picture and query. “For a number of months we’ve had three white opossums (small, medium and enormous) coming to our terrace in Lake Villa. Curious if they’re uncommon, and stunned they arrive out throughout the day—thought they have been nocturnal. We even have a number of `regular gray’ opossums, however the white ones are distinctive and new to us. And so they peacefully co-exist with our different outdoors guests.”
Her query me sufficient that I reached out to Stefanie Fitzsimons, district wildlife biologist. Oddly sufficient, the final time I had one other white opossum query, it was in Fitzsimons’ district. “It should be within the genetics for the pack there,” Fitzsimons messaged. “Very attention-grabbing as a result of albinism and leucism can be each infrequently.
