Donald Trump promised to finish the Ukraine conflict on day one in all his US presidency.
Then his particular envoy promised to finish it inside the first 100 days.
The second self-imposed deadline is days away, with no deal in sight.
However Trump’s first face-to-face assembly with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy since an Oval Workplace blow-up in February appears to have introduced Washington and Kyiv a step nearer.
