    Seventeen-year-old boy charged with eight offences following incident on Jetstar Airways airplane.

    A youngster has been arrested in Australia after boarding a business plane with a loaded shotgun, police have mentioned.

    The 17-year-old boy was overpowered and detained by crew and passengers following the incident at Avalon Airport, about 60km (37 miles) from Melbourne, on Thursday, Victoria Police mentioned.

    Not one of the roughly 160 passengers and crew on the Jetstar Airways airplane had been harm.

    Police charged the teenager with eight offences, together with endangering the secure operation of an plane and possession of a firearm.

    Throughout an look by the teenager at a juvenile court docket on Friday, police alleged that he had planted a pretend selfmade explosive and threatened passengers and crew, the Australian Broadcasting Company reported.

    Victoria Police Superintendent Michael Reid advised reporters on Thursday that the teenager had been overpowered by a number of passengers.

    “Little doubt this may have been a really terrifying incident for the passengers of that airplane, and Victoria Police actually commend the bravery of the passengers who had been capable of overpower that male,” Reid mentioned.

    Barry Clark, one of many passengers who tackled the suspect, advised native media that he had sprung into motion after noticing the suspect turning into agitated whereas arguing with a flight attendant concerning the firearm.
