A Delta Air Strains flight made an emergency touchdown at O’Hare Airport on Wednesday after a “smoky odor” was detected within the cockpit midflight.
The flight from Detroit to Kansas Metropolis diverted to O’Hare and landed safely about 4:15 p.m., in accordance with a Delta spokesperson and the flight monitoring web site FlightAware.
“Nothing is extra essential than the protection of our clients and folks. That’s why the flight crew adopted established procedures to divert to Chicago O’Hare,” a Delta spokesperson stated in a press release. “We apologize to our clients for the delay of their travels and Delta groups are working to get them to their closing locations this night.”
The Boeing 717 was carrying 73 passengers and 5 crew members. No accidents have been reported.
