    Japan Airlines hit by cyber attack, delaying some flights | Aviation

    JAL says it has suspended ticket gross sales for all providers on Thursday following incident.

    Japan Airways (JAL) has reported being hit with a cyber assault, inflicting delays to some flights.

    The airline has been experiencing “malfunctions in techniques speaking with exterior techniques” since shortly earlier than 7:30am native time (23:30 GMT, Wednesday), JAL mentioned on Thursday.

    JAL briefly remoted a router that was inflicting the disruption shortly earlier than 9am and is presently “checking the standing of the system restoration”, the Tokyo-based airline mentioned.

    “We have now recognized the scope of the influence and are presently checking the standing of the system restoration,” JAL mentioned.

    The airline added that there have been delays to each home and worldwide flights and that it had suspended ticket gross sales for all providers scheduled for Thursday.

    Greater than a dozen flights have been delayed at a number of Japanese airports, however there have been no mass cancellations, public broadcaster NHK reported.

    All Nippon Airways, JAL’s essential rival, mentioned that it had not been affected by any cyber incidents and that providers have been working as regular.

    American Airways briefly grounded all flights on Christmas Eve after experiencing a technical glitch involving its community {hardware}.
